Please Help an Apex Idiot with A Mac

I was reorganizing my wires and EB8 when after I replugged everything up, my EB8 and WMX box show blinking yellow lights. The apex controller itself is fully functional as far as I can tell but the display and web connectivity has been lost.

I have no clue how to perform a firmware update despite reading the neptune read me after downloading the firmware update text. I cannot understand mono, and even downloaded it and going to a terminal entering exactly as the read me text explains. Is this a firmware issue or is my EB8 no longer functional?

Can anybody add some insight for me?

Thanks.

Okay, did more reading. The Apex base module has no light for the power status however the ethernet light leds come on when connected to the EB8. I am going to leave things unplugged for the night. Any suggestions when I should try to power back up? Hopefully a power cycle will help then I can have more time to figure out how to update my firmware.

I still do not understand mono.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Okay power cycling worked after an hour of the base unplugged. Now I got to try to learn mono and programming through terminal to do a firmware update which I will need to do once I make a switch to LEDs. My goodness, the things I do for a few fish and a lot of corals.

I might be late to this, but just as an FYI on the MAC OSX compatibility aspect. I was able to download install and run the Apex Flash Utility using Mono.

This is what I did, download the latest stable version of Mono (2.10.2) here are the direct links for Mac OS X:

Once you download it and run the DMG file, follow the questions on the installation windows and once it is complete you can proceed with running the Apex Flash Utility.

Here's how, once MONO is installed you need to locate the utility "Terminal" and open it. In MAC OS X, Terminal can be found in /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

In the open terminal screen type in: mono "apex flash utility.exe"

This is a little off because it all depends on where you downloaded and extracted the Apex Utility. To make matters easier, just type mono and drag/drop the file "Apex Flash Utility.exe" onto the open terminal screen and it will autofill the appropriate file location within the Terminal Session.

Once that is done, just hit return and it will automatically open up the Flash Utility on your Mac. You may then proceed to perform the update as you would normally.

I hope this is somewhat useful in your investigations.

First in order to do it on the mac you have to create the ARP entry. Follow the directions in the manual (either the readme that came with the flash utility or in the unofficial guide) to create that on the mac. It took me a few tries. If you don't create the ARP entry within the mac, the flash utility will error out.
