I checked my tank this afternoon and found my "New" Anem is sucked into my hydor circulation pump. It's all shrunken down and most of it is still outside of the pump but part of it has been sucked through the small holes. I turned the pump off immediately and did nothing else. Is he probably dead? should i try to pull it out or just leave it? Please help this is a beautiful anem i would hate to loose!!

I would pull it out gently. Most damage has been done if any. Try to work each tentacle loose hopefully it will retract them as you mess with them. It should recover. It may get stressed and shrink but it should be ok as long as it's foot and mouth are intact.

Most peploe recomend not try tu pull it. Just let it found his way out.

You sould be aware than when you buy or have anemonies on your tank they change places or when they are new its a big chance they are around floating in your tank trying to find his spot (light and flow).

Turn your powerhead off and she will make is way out., DO NOT PULL IT. if you think is not dead. If it moves it can make it. You may see it deflate but give it time to recover.

Purple LTA
It looks like its still alive I have had it for a few weeks and thought it was settled but i guess i was wrong. So the best thing to do is leave it alone? Is their anything i can do after it finds its way out?

If you can you might want it to place it in a quarentine tank. But the annemonies needs very stady conditions. be carefull with that. You can leave it in your tank just keep monitoring than nothing bother the anomonie while its recovers.

This is what happened to me.

My PLTA ended up in my SEIO 1100, not sure how long it was in there, since it in the sandbed when I left for work, and was in there when I got home -- and did it ever stink. (( the pump is on a wavemaker so the pump was off/on during the day.
I took the pump out of the tank ( with anemone attached ) and placed it into a bucket of tank water. I let it sit there for a couple of hours. I did help it out of the powerhead a bit near the end. I placed it back in the tank. It looked pretty bad for about a week. After that couldn't tell anything had happened to it. ( the powerhead now has a sponge over the intake )

Here are a bunch of pictures. This happened about 7 months ago. The last picture is from a couple of weeks ago.

Toddrtrex:
THANKS!! I was thinking about pulling it out and taking the loss so it didnt ruin my whole tank but seeing your pics i think im going to just give it time.

You're welcome. As long as there isn't any damage to the foot, there is a really good chance of it recovering. Just keep an eye on it, and keep your water quality up.

BTW/OT Back when I bartended in Chicago we would take an annual trip to N.O., spent a lot of time at a place called the Hideout ( if memory serves -- most of the trip was a blur. ;) )
