Hello all , I hade to swap out my 54 corner tank this sunday
I broke down the old tank put all the rock -corals-fish in buckets
I put 4 bags of new live sand -re did my rock work - filled the tank-I saved about half of the water and mixed up about 20 gallons of new water
let the tank get up to temp added back corals, fish inverts-
I woke up monday AM and my hole house stinks!! The tank room smells so foul .I added a full bag of new carbon
I do not see 3 of my fish -my hippo , coral beauty , fridmani .I am not sure if they made it or not
WHAT Do I do now ? the tank smells so bad Please help
Thanks

I did see one clown and the coral beauty monday AM but have not seen the others
The one clown is still out and eating

Break everything down again and find any survivors. Get them into clean water, in qt, along with all inverts.
Reassemble the tank: it's cycling. Your live rock will survive, ditto the sand, but it has to reesstablish its layers. This may be another 2 weeks in process.

Should the water Stink that bad ? the hole house stinks ?
I have had a few tanks / moved tanks from houes to house in the past 15 years but never hade a stink like this

Take Sk8r's advice and find your fish, inverts and corals and get them into a clean quarantine tank.

Yes, cycling live rock can stink. The cycle will also kill your fish, inverts and corals, so get them out of there asap.

When you moved the tank, did you move the rock fully submerged in water? Did you reuse the old sand, or toss it out? You said you added 4 bags of new live sand, but didn't clarify what happened to the old sand.

Did you test your water for ammonia and nitrite yet?
