Anthelia "waving hand coral" is what I refer to it as..Well that and a "horrible damn weed" that I won't let within a thousand feet of my tanks anymore...
I learned my lesson.. A 1" frag quickly covered every visible surface of my old 6ft long tank in under a year and nothing would kill it..

Good to know how invasive it is.

Can you get a picture of the coral with the polyps closed? If it's got a hard skelton then it might be a Pipe Organ coral as opposed to Anthelia. This is not as invasive IME.

i can assure you its not a frag plug it is bigger then a golf ball the base is round.
ill try and get a pic its very rare that the polyps are down!

would you guys agree that this a Goniapora Stokesi ??

Nope..
Unless you (and Ron) are looking at a totally different picture than I am..

You can always count the "pedals" on each one.. A goniopora has 24 (alveopora which is similar has 12)

If its got a base its potentially a pipe organ coral..
But to me its surely in the anthelia/xenia/ family and most certainly not a goni..
There so many varieties of anthelia/xenia its crazy.. and some of the pictures on the internet really make them look quite different,etc...

Stick your hand in the tank.. wave around by it and it will close up.. Then take a picture.. That will not harm the coral in anyway..

well.. this could be one of my rare wrong moments Ron spoke about :)
It really doesn't look like a goni in the first pic but certainly could be based on that last one..

Usually the stalk is "thicker" and the pedals not as long/fingery but that first pic is it just really extended/happy I guess..

Do you count 24 pedals on each head? I can't tell from here..

No i think im now convinced its a Goniopora after i found this pic nearly the same
i stand to be corrected though !!
