I am very new to the hobby and I know nothing about it is there anyway one of you guys would be willing to talk to me via kik Snapchat or even texting or email because I have a lot of questions

See if a more advanced member takes you under their wing. I can't really help you from square one as I received a mature 6 year old tank. But I'll help you anywhere I can, pm me. If you know absolutely nothing you need to be googling aswell... Reef tanks 101, saltwater for dummies, anything. YouTube has like 6 different guys that I watched and really liked. I don't want to even think about how many hours I spent d on utube and Google Befor I accepted this tank I have. I made sure I completely understood this chart befor I destroyed an ecosystem

Look at the stickys!!! You'd be better off looking in a local forum. See if anyone can mentor you along.

The Bulk Reef Supply (in case you don't know what BRS is) videos as mentioned is a good place to start, however, don't think you absolutely need everything in each video.

Good point. You don't have to watch every video, but if you want to be really really really on top of your game, watch them all. Lots of info! Bulk Reef Supply 52 weeks of reefing.

BRS on youtube has a video to answer almost any question on the saltwater hobby. They were a good asset for me when I jumped in the hobby since I didn't know anyone with a tank.

And lets not forget, talking to one person often means only getting one way of doing things. In this hobby, there are endless ways to do a multitude of things, many of which are very successful in their own right.
So by reading a lot, watching the videos, and dropping in on many of the build threads, you can and will get the opportunity to enjoy a plethora of different perspectives.

Dlanciloti, if you would still like to find somebody to talk to, send me a PM and we can exchange emails and phone numbers. Hopefully between xanthurum and I, we can get you headed in the right direction.

I've been in the hobby for about 12 years and currently have 4 tanks running as 2 separate systems. I'm retired so I have the time and one of my motivations for being here at RC is to help others because I know how hard it was for me when I started.

Way to step up Ron. Dlanciloti seems like a good kid I m sure we can get him on the right track.

I've seen many of your posts and I really wish you had a "like" button.

Not to discount the others who offered to help :)

(I'm too new to be useful LOL)

Thanks xanthurum.

Thank you as well Cindy. If you've seen the movie 'Pay It Forward', that's what I'm trying to do. I got a lot of help when I first started so I want to try and make this easier for those just getting started. BTW, if you haven't seen the movie, rent it or get it from your local library!
