Please help me with my Icecap 660

I am trying to mount my T5 retro into my canopy. Got all the bulbs attached to the reflectors, and have the endcaps on the bulbs as well. Have not done the wiring yet, but I cannot seem to get the wiring harness attached to the 660.

Is there some kind of trick to attaching this thing? There is a place where it goes into on the ballast, but it does not fit in, and I don't want to push to hard because I am scared of breaking the pins.

Any help is appreciated.

I just got it in actually. I had to move it around quite a bit, but finally it went in.

Now the next thing. Does this thing seriously not come with power cords?

How do I plug this into the wall?

So do you plug it into the wall or what? I am looking at the wiring harness and it has nothing that would plug into a wall. Forgive me if I am missing something, as I really do not know anything about electric, ballasts, and all that.

You're missing a power cable. It looks exactly like the computer power cable except cut at the other end to expose the wires. I don't remember exactly, but I think you're supposed to connect/splice the power cable wires with two of the leftover wires from the Icecap ballast. PM me if that doesn't make any sense and I'll check my Icecap connections for you.

There should be an opening in the endcap that you can use a paper clip to unlock the wire, so you can pull it out.

What Chris said.

You're missing the Ground cable.

3 Prong, if you have a computer power cord you can cut the female end off and wire it to your IceCap Ballast.
Instead of paying $10 for one, just take any grounding cable you could find really.

Make sure you have the connections right, if your house goes boom. It's not my fault :D

I used the Apple cables I had laying around from their servers.

Works great.

I have a few hundreds of the computer cables if you want one, but it'll be a long drive for you. :D

Apple makes servers?

I actually just went to Home Depot and bought a cord. Didn't have any spare cords laying around. I have never done anything electrical, and had no idea about the green, white, black thing and having to attach them to another cord.

That is what I did.

One more question for you guys, and hopefully this will be my last question, as I am done wiring everything.

I used the 660 for three bulbs instead of four. What do I do with the rest of the wires that I did not use? I would imagine they are live wires once I turn the power on. So do I cut them off, cover them with electrical tape or what to do?

Thanks

The extra wires not being used should be tied off. I used wire nuts to cover them or you could use electrical tape. Do not tie them together, tie them off separately. Also if you go to icecap.com, you can get there wiring diagrams and instructions there.

+1. I would cap them individually and tuck away. I wouldn't cut them just in case you ever decided to add another bulb in the future.
