Please help! Something's wrong with my PBT

Hi

I've had my PBT for 4 years. He's big, healthy, and never been sick a day in his life. He's my favorite fish.

A few days ago, he began acting funny.
Here's what I've noticed:
1) his lips are damaged. They are cut up pretty badly.
2) he's stopped eating.
3) his color is good. Swims normally, except, occasionally, he'll race increadibly fast around the tank for no apparent reason. I mean SUPER fast.

Any ideas please. Tank info is in my sig.
Is he sick? Did he somehow injur himself? Any thoughts would be great.

It just went into one of it's swimming frenzies, and slammed into the side of the tank. Any ideas? Please help!

Did it mess up it's mouth during a swimming frenzy, or is he swimming crazy becauce of the injury?

Have you added anything new to the tank lately without qt? Sounds like he is irritated by something. Could be water quality issues or parasites... If you haven't added anything new, do a large water change, see if it helps. Hopefully his mouth will heal..you may have to treat him with antibiotics.

No, nothing new. checked all the water parameters. Everything good (except, for some reason, my SG is a little high)

Anyway, he died.
