Ok I am at a loss.:headwally:
We set up our tank and it has a heater in it. It's a 24gallon tank
All the levels in the water were perfect. We even had it tested.
So we got some little blue leg crabs. Next day-bam, they're all dead. The water temperature was 84 degrees. :debi:
What is the ideal temperature for a 24 gallon tank?
We took the heater out and are letting the water temp come down. :hmm4:
I feel bad for the little crabs but I'm glad we didn't have any fish in there

I have had hermits in a tank with temps at 84 even 85 in the summer and they were ok. Have u tested your ammonia ?

The store that we use for all of our fish stuff said the ammonia was a little high and sent us home with the chemicals to fix it and said that the crabs would be ok.
I guess nit

Read up on the nitrogen cycle. It takes time to set up a tank.

84 is on the hot side. 78-80 better. Get the temp down and your tank cycled and things will live longer. Don't take out the heater, turn it down.

What exactly did they give you? there is no quick fix to get rid of ammonia, so I wouldn't be adding it to the tank. Agreed with above read up on the nitrogen cycle. In the mean time water changes will help keep it at a more manageable level if needed.
