please help with crispa

i bought a nice size very purple tip crispa a few days ago right before it was un bagged at my lfs. its not white, but could be a little more colored up. my question is.... it has not moved since i put it in my tank, and attached almost right away, but the way its situated itself only half of it is getting good light, and the other half is shadowed under a ledge... so should i move it so all is in the light? i mean what if it just stays like it is and only half colors up... will the alge spread to the half that is shaded? how would the nem know to move into more light if half was colored up?

I wouldn't move it. I would leave it where it is and feed it often. If it needs to move it will. It can detect where the light is coming from and move to where he needs to be. My LFS is always full of H. Crispas that won't set their foot. If you move him now he may have problems setting his foot again.

My H. crispas did the same thing when I first let it loose in my tank, it attached itself immediately. I found that they do move a little over time, mainly depending on flow and availability of food. If it does decide to color up more then all of it will do so, it doesn't depend on which part of it is under the brighter light. Be happy it attached itself, it means its a healthy specimen.
