I am curious to find out what typ of hitchhiker this is its the brown looking tube worm next to the yellow tang and top of the sun coral. It started to grow on my live rock orginally there was one and 9 months later there are 10. Are these worms bad for the tank and will they keep growing. What is the best practice in removing them?

Please click on the link to view the tuble worms

I'd recommend getting some Joe's Juice and zapping them. You'll likely find them popping up in the tank here and there even after you think you've killed all of them...

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to provide an update on my Aiptasia Anenome problem. Last Friday on 10-26-07 I ask for support on what the hitch hiker was which turned out to be the Aiptasia. I would say I had over 20 of them on my Live Rock. That Friday evening I went an purchased 6 Pepermint Shrimp and as of Tuesday 10-30-07 the shrimp has basically removed all of them in sight. I know there probably more b/c they Pepermint Shrimp are now working inside of the creveces of the Live Rock. I would recommend you try that natural way of removing the Aiptasia rather than using chemicals.

I had 20+ pencil eraser sized aiptasia in my 30gallon, and 1 medium sized peppermint was introduced... 8 hours later, no more aiptasia... It was amazing!!

If you do not want to take the Peppermint Shrimp approach, try this: Mix up some kalkwasser in a small sealable plastic container/jar, perhaps left over from an aquarium product (this way you can save what don't use). Get a clean 10cc syringe from CVS, etc, a nurse, Dr. , or EMT friend. Turn off ALL the pumps in the aquarium so that there is no water movement. Fill the syringe with 5-7 mls of the kalkwasser solution. Inject one ml of the kalk directly on the aptasia/mojanoe anemone. The kalc is heavier than the water and will sit on the anemone like a small cloud. After you have treated all the anemonies that you can see, wait about 5-10 minutes and turn the pumps back on. Presto- no more anemonies, but you wil have more, so save the left over kalk and try to treat as soon as you see a new one to prevent spread and possibly eliminate the problem. And the kalk that you have added will contribute to your overall alkalinity.
