Hello everyone,

So I've had this LTA for about 4 months now.. I just to have it in my 42gal and it was attached and happy... 1month ago I upgraded to a 130gal DT my params are in check..

PO4=0
NO3=0
Ca=420
PH=8.2

I have 6x54w fixture and the LTA eats when fed (about once a week)...

So the problem is that the LTA is having problems finding its happy place it attaches and then detaches. It stayed attached to a corner for about 6 days and the detached and has been attaching and detaching from this corner constantly... This corner has low flow and since I have a 2" sand bead I have places with 4" where I see the LTA will attach...

It is a healthy LTA with color, sticky and eats... So What do I do? Should I do some cave with a PVC pipe?

Please help because it has already been 1 month of this. I thought sooner or later it would attach but its getting to much on the later side hehe...

Any advice, tips, directions would help! :)

Thanks for the posts!

LTAs need a deep sand bed, six inches or more for a large one. Filling a pvc pipe (sealed at the bottom) with fine sand will usually keep them stationary.

Mine is about 18" in diameter and hosts 2 tomato clowns. It is (and has been) attached to the bottom glass (thru about 1-2" of sand) for about 4 years now. So a deep sand bed may not be the solution.

Ok. I've tried to build some of cave with rocks and it has attached in the past but the it detaches.
I was thinking of using a PVC pipe as mentioned but where should I place it? Under the edge of a rock? Just in sand? In a rock cave?

Update:
the LTA attached to a glass corner of the tank and didn't detache during the night, which is usually the time when it detaches. It is in 2" of sand but isn't moving for now!

Thanks for the help

The LTA detached from the corner today after I moved some stuff and I guess the water movement made it detache. Now it attached like 5inches from the corner in to a small cave ad has stayed there through out the day.
