Can you guys please id the anemone for me???

And also let me know if it looks healthy, as iam confused with the mouth display. It has been added to the tank on April 06th, 2013 and seems to have settled there on the rock and not touching the substrate.

Need helps from all those out there to id and judge the health of the anemone in the pic.

Thanks in advance to all.

That's a Heteractis magnifica. AKA ritteri anemone. The puckered mouth is normal for this species. It is a little bleached and the tentacle density is not great, but other than that, it looks pretty good.

+1 to being a ritteri. It looks good overall to me. Mouth is good and closed and tentacles are long and not stubby. It should probably have a few more tentacles than it does now but if it is health it will recover quickly It does seam to be a little bleached but not extremely bad. I can still see color in it. What kind of lighting and flow do you have on it now?

Really appreciate the help and info shared.
Guys, to be frank i did not know it was a ritteri - and i really dont knw if my light will support.

Anyways, i have HO 4*54W (2*White 10K + 2*Actinics)

I keep them on as below:

Actinics: 9am - 9pm
White: 10am - 8pm

Waterflow: 2* Sicce Voyager 4 on wavesurfer

Tank is just 5 months old, but have all kind of algae, sponges, critters etc and parameters are under control / Nh4:0, No2: 0, No3: <10mg/l, Po4:0, ph:8, Sg:1.022

Need to increase the Ph and Sg i guess. But do not want to increase them all if a sudden so that it does not panic the anemone.

It was introduced on April 6th, and have settled as per the above pic. I tried feeding it small piece of shrimp - but did not have it...I am trying the shrimp everyday, but unfortunately refuses.

the clarki hosted on the ritteri the first day, but from second day till date the oscellaris has kicked out the clarki.

Just as a info: when i bought the anemone its mouth was closed and was sticked on to the bottom glass at the LFS, i had personally taken time to get him out carefully. So i thought it was healthy. But when i reached home and tried feeding, i realized its tentacles is not sticky. after doing research on the anemone i learned that this anemone tentacles is not very sticky like the other anemones.

Request your advise on how to care for and especially feeding.

Hope it goes well as iam pretty sure that the LFS might not take it back.

H mags have very sticky tentacles,it is still getting adjusted to your tank.I wouldn't try feeding it for a couple days after introduced to the tank.It will travel up to get as much light as possible, mine sits right under a 250 watt mh.I feed mine a couple of cubes of mysis weekly. Also bring your salinity up slowly to 1.025 to 1.027.hth

Sorry did not mention tank size....
120*45*50cms... Approx 55 USG.
I don't believe on WPG when it comes to anemones....
So am worried on my lighting. ????? Hope it survives...

How do you generally increase salinity...
Do you guys do it while WC... Or ????

Thanks again.

If the anemone can climb to find a spot it likes high enough in the tank then that might be enough light especially if the t5's have individual reflectors.
You can increase your salinity slowly by topping off with saltwater rather than ro water.

Thanks again to all,

Well the anemone still seems to have closed mouth which keeps me relaxed.
He has not moved a inch from where placed/ or rather settled...
Today is the 5th day and he hasn't taken anything as feeding.
Hope the light i have is keeping him healthy...
Am i being a bit over caring/cautious than ever before...

The Oscellaris is selfish i assume, he comes out from the anemone while feeding but does not take anything to the ritteri. he eats everything and then returns to the anemone.
Will this constant movement by the oscellaris stress the anemone.

Just want to ensure that these beautiful creatures survives and not perish...
Hope you guys understand...

Mouth staying closed is a good sign. I wouldn't worry about it not feeding for a while its still adjusting to your tank. I am concerned though that its not sticky and bleached. On accident I touched my net to mine and had to leave it in the tank for a couple hours till the nem decided it wasn't going to be able to eat the net and let it go, its that sticky. I know wpg isn't recommended but at almost 4 wpg I think that it will move high enough your lighting should be ok. Just watch it carefully and make sure powerheads are covered. Postals info on water changes is the way I change mine when needed

Friends,

Anemone has started to feed since yesterday, i.e approx 16 days after introducing to the tank. (April 06th).

I gave it a small half pcs of frozen shrimp yesterday night, which it accepted to my surprise and then today morning i gave it another half which also it accepted.

Its moved from the rock and gone to the sruface of the water stuck on the back glass.but after today morning feeding it started its way downward from the surface, dont know why??

Iam confused on how to change water if the anemone returns to the surface and stays there? I do not have a sump.
And also scared of it may go to the powerhead.?

Can i add another ritteri? i know they grow very large but i do not want to risk taking in another species of anemone and later they end up fighting.

I am converting my reef to a anemone tank, selling all my LPS and softies tomorrow.

Iam in love with anemone.

Can i add another anemone like BTA/LTA or another ritteri?
