I'm totally confused. I'm hard pressed to see the difference between Atrosalarias Sp. and ecsenius namiye.

tribal blenny, look at the facial markings.
The consensus from sources I've checked indicates he is a Tribal.
Notable there's a very solid minority seeing him as Black Combtooth. I can only attribute that to the confusion using Google as his images come up under Tribal and Black Combtooth.

Thanks! Just getting back into shooting again.
Regarding the Tribal's disposition, do you know of any reason that a tominiensis tang would think to be chasing him "off" the reef...keeping him from coming into the main area of the tank... almost as though he sees him as a threat to his food source? Their shapes and other characteristics are so different albeit their color has lots in common (grey/black).
I thought the criteria was more about same specifies and conspecifics? What am I missing? I was purposeful looking to avoid conflict in the tank.
