Please ID this crab.

I asked for a scarlet, but I don't think this one is. I thought scarlets had yellow eye stalks?

This guy looks a bit more aggresive.

They are, rather obviously, called orange legged hermits. I have a pair, yours is a male. They are even more mild tempered then scarlets in my experiance.

Hmm, I thought I read that any crab with a large claw will be more aggressive than those without a large claw. Thanks for the info.

This is a nice one, not just because it looks good but because it can be identified based on claw proportions & color. It's Pylopaguropsis speciosa. Unfortunately nearly every reference on the web is in Japanese, German or French. This one is partially in english:

This tank has just finished cycleing and he's a part of the cuc, should I toss in a couple mysis or something?

I just used http://babelfish.altavista.com/ to translate the site from german to english. Worked ok if you read between the lines.


You can try, but I think this let's me know enough.

So far also peacefully to all co-inhabitants, and far not as agressiv as my Calcinus seurati.
Algae seem to eat it also with me none, search the sand after fodder remainders.
In the 6 months, since I has it, hardly grew.

So he's peaceful and eats algae I'm guessing, sounds good to me if that's the case.
