Please post your ORA borealis with ULNS and without

I'd leave it. Mine is about 6 " below the surface, with 250W 14K phoenix 8" above the surface - super happy with great PE (but not a whole lot of purple/blue to the tips like some pics here). Not a ton of flow in that spot either. A better, in focus :o pic from last night...

Right on buddy, thanks for the heads up. Im using 10k right now, ive wanted to swap to either 14k or 20k, but i have 2-65w atinic PC's so i didnt want it to look too blue. Would u say rock the 14k's? Give the color a bit more pop?

Nice colony BTW, it looks super happy!

Well, the blue from the phoenix bulbs is a different wavelength than actinic, so that shouldn't matter. As for "too blue" well that's all personal preference. I really like the phoenix bulbs, and have been using them for several years. To satisfy my "strip club lighting" desires, I simply have actinic LED's on for one hour before and after MH are on...that way I don't get sick of it :D

Thanks. Too bad it can't spread its happy look to the miserable red planet next to it

I tell you it does not appear to be but a small frag of that size will not really show its growth formation yet and color means next to nothing. There are so many different combination of T5 and LED available out there now you can really make a given coral any color you want or I should say it would be perceived to be as such. The true color may be much different when observed under daylight or natural sunlight.Yours looks to be the same as the majority I have seen in formation and color.

Mine looks like all of yours but its more pale, alot more pale. Im going to keep dosing AA to see if i can get it to color up alittle and mabe cut the vodka back a bit. For the record im not to sure if yours is a borealis ghostcon??

Hey Keith,

I was in OA just before you picked up the Granulosa and Borealis.I was going to spring for the Borealis but my tank is really starting to pack in with SPS. Time to just leave it alone and let these babies grow.

Mine is down about halfway in the tank (27" tank depth) directly under a 400 watt 20k Radium on Galaxy Ballast. I started it on the sandbed and didn't move it until PE was good. Now, after a year it's finally taking off.

The problem with some of my ORA frags is that they're almost all starting to look the same. My Ora Borealis is just a hint more green than my Roscoe's blue, and my Wooly green is just a little more green than my Borealis. All nice corals, but too similar IMO.

thats why i dont want a belina except for growth looks like purple plasma to me

I'm starting to wonder this myself :hmm3:

If it's not a borealis, then I think it's a roscoe.

+1 I have the Bellina, Borealis, and Roscoes in my tank, and the pic you originally posted looks exactly like my Roscoe's.
