please show me your t5 only sps tanks

wendy, you got some incredible growth! just went thru your thread and the difference is significant between jan of this year and now! great job!

Thank you kindly, Reefsahoy. :) I feed 3 times a day, frozen food only. I feed a mix of plankton, mysis shrimp, blood worms, cyclopeeze (sp.?), Spirulina fortified brine shrimp, and mixed frozen cubes. I'm using the Octopus NW200.

Thank you very much. :) This is my first reef tank, and I did a whole lot of reading and researching before I jumped into this. I honestly LOVE the T5s. I don't use Zeo or Probidio, and everything's done manually (topping off, dosing). I feed heavy and skim extra heavy.

Here are a couple of more pictures of some Acans:

Wendy, what is your light cycle ?

CyanoMagnet (lol @ the name), my Blue Pluses come on at 8:30AM, the rest of the lights at 9:30AM. The main lights go off at 7PM, and the Blue Pluses go off at 9PM.

Reefsahoy, I've changed my bulbs once since I've had the tank up and running.

THanks , I will try that:).

Have you ever had a problem bleaching SPS because of too much light? Do you light acclimate? Could you describe the process?

(I have the same lighting as you do and am completely new to both it and SPS).

Nope, I"ve never had any SPS bleach on me (knock on wood). I've had some LPS turn lighter, so all I did was find them some shade. I am "playing" with two chalices, which I'd like to move further up in the tank, but I'm doing it ever so slowly. I move them up a couple of inches every other month.

No, I start off by placing them in the sandbed, and every other month I move them up a couple of inches.

The eggcrate thingy you saw is my self-fabricated frag rack, lol.
Here it is:

Your education is going well. Good looking corals.

Mine is also just over a year old. Most of the corals started with small frags.

My 240G has only ever known T5's (1.25 years old) - I use ATI blueplus/blue special in a 50/50 pattern overdriven by icecaps and SLR reflectors.

I am not happy with polyp colors, but am not sure if it is from water quality or lighting to be honest.

My tank is 26" high. I had to move my T5s up to about 12-14" off the water because of bleaching. Everything is still growing and seems happy.

hey mcliify i seem to be having the same problem a few of my corals look bleached out. my lights are about 6" above the water i think im going to raise them up a couple of inches as far as t5s go im really not all that impressed as of now but my tank is still really new only been up 4 months im going to switch out 2 of my
ge 6500k bulbs for 2 aqua blue specials the colors of my corals are not all that good. as far as what im running its as follows.

tank 375 gal 72"x "48x "25 i have 12 80w t5s all overdriven on ic 660s i have 6 ati blue plus 2 ati true actinics 2 ge 3000k and 2 ge 6500k bulbs i had 2 ati aqua blue specials then switched them out for 2 blue plus i think im going to dump either the 3000k or the 6500k bulbs and put the aqua blues back on again unless someone has another suggestion that might be better....

thanks
