The new Gen is whiter than a blue plus, the KZ superblue is less whitE
which do you prefer for a blue bulb, the b+ or superblue?

I was running 4 B+ and 2 FP and I loved the color. It's just very pleasing to look at. Corals were doing good under this combo. I kind of convinced myself that I was missing out on some of the beneficial spectrums of a daylight bulb. I pretty much tried every combo I possibly could and settled on this:
Front
B+
UVL actinic
FP
New Gen
UVL actinic
B+
I think of all the combo's I've tried with a daylight bulb, this is the most pleasing to the eye.
I did see a beautiful tank though that ran a 1:1:1 ratio of B+, New Gen, FP. I want to give it a try for the heck of it

Honestly though, I've seen tanks like this http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2026498 that run 4 ab specials and two actinics, you'd think everything would look really washed out but the corals look great. I think it's more about water quality.
Well my AB Special bulb has only been out for a few days now, my corals are already showing signs of improvement.
I think it is far too typical that people with T5 tolerate or accept that their corals look pale, have less dense pigmentation, or are pastel in color, compared to MH counterparts (some people like the pastel look, which is fine, just ignore this).
Not sure exactly what causes the paleness/pastel color but I suspect it's just having to do with T5 lighting's non-point source nature and specifically the white spectrum bulbs.
Solution: Running a ton of blue and keeping your tank well fed.
I plan on running 6 blue+ and 1 Fiji Purple.
im getting ready to retube my 12 x 39 fixture.
i was thinking
6 - blue +
3 - kz figi purples
3 - kz new gens
anyone have comments or suggestions
thanks!

3 purples may make your tank too pink.. I have one in my 10 bulb fixture and it's sufficient.. definitely no more than two.. unless you like pink color to be prevalent.. it is very bright..
Hey everyone,
First of all I just wanted to say that all of these tanks look fantastic, and I never realized you could keep such a variety of SPS under only T5 bulbs. I think that reading through this thread has given me the SPS bug too though, and I was wondering if you all thought my lighting would be sufficient for SPS, and if it is, how deep could I put them in the tank?
I currently have a DIY setup of 6 t5's over my 90 gallon tank that includes:
2 48" 54 watt coral sun actinic 420's
2 48" 10,000k 54 watt bulbs
1 48" 18,000k 54 watt bulb
1 48" 6500k 54 watt bulb
Thanks a bunch for the help and happy reefing
