plugged up clownfish :(

So two weeks ago my clownfish finally decided to get freaky .:smokin: The first clutch was good sized(at least for a first batch), colored and hatched on cue.

Yesterday I noticed momma was ready and they started laying eggs in the evening. Lights just came on and I am a bit concerned. The eggs are very sparse, and she still has a bunch hanging out of her, uh, like four or five got stuck on the way out.

I don't recall coming across this in my readings the last time I had a pair of clowns spawn. I doubt there is much I can do either way, but wanted to see if anyone else ever had a clown misfire and jam the barrel :hmm3:

It's been about 24 hours since she started laying eggs now. She still looks pregnant, just plugged up. She is just hanging out, not trying doing any spawning behaviors.

poor girl, she looks frumpy in the pic

Search for "egg bound female", there are a couple of threads in the archives. Not much you can do :(

I work in a fresh water lab dealing with many species of xiphophorous. we have one female who does something like this once a month like clock work. The doc in the lab says she's fine. I know its a different species and different setting. I'd get it checked but wouldn't worry too much.

Probably not one you'd want to use as breeding stock though. Looks like it would hurt.
