Hello all,
I've been in the process putting my tank together for the last few months. my tank (150g) only came with drilled holes at the bottom of the tank, so ive plumb everything in myself.
through reading tons of post on here and youtube i've set up my tank and pretty happy with it. i have teasted it, so if the pump trips or power goes out the water will drain down into the sump and not overflow. i have got 2 overflow's in the main tank, 1.5" that "Y" into a 2" pipe. Reason being if one gets blocked the other pipe will cope easily, or if something blocks it and gets through the 1.5" it will be impossible to block as it goes into a 2" pipe. Currently i am only testing the water flow but the noise from sump is too loud. Currently the sump is not enclosed and will be in the future once everything is set.
The sump overflow return splits into 2 pipes, i am going to put filter socks on them hoping this will solve it, i have yet to buy the socks, But there is a lot of water returning into the sump at force.
I dont want to turn down the return pump as that dictates how much water is cleaned, do you have any ideas how to ease the force of the water returning into the sump?
in the pictures, the Y is my overflow and the black caps are acting as a grill that will be fitted properly, this is really helpng with the vortex sucking noinse/motion. The T is my return feed which have drilled holes to act as a jet if needed also i will be putting on open elbows on the ends to direct the flow of water to act like a power head and get the water moving.
please any advise will be welcome
