Plumbing/ Berlin filter sock

I have one 1.5” drain, draining into a Berlin filter sock, 100 microns. The problem I am having, bubbles or suds are building up and coming over the top of the filter sock. Does anyone know why?

super fast water flow coming down into the sock causing bubbles... kinda like a skimmer causing bubbles. Is the top of the filter sock close to the water line? if yes try to move it up a bit and see if the issue goes away. That's what solved mine...

No the top of sock is not close to the water line and I moved the filter up as far as I can. I also tryed to split the drain using T filling but the time I added more fittings, it was to wide to fit in the sump. Any more suggestions please.

I can't tell much from your post, but could it be that you are getting a lot of air in the return line and the filter sock is acting some what like a skimmer? How old is your tank? Is it a new filter sock? It sounds like it is the placement of the filter in the sump.

I set the tank up around three months ago, I have a mag 12 w/head 5.5', draining into one 1.5" PVC pipe. If I could send a picture I would, just sign up on photobucket so I can start posting pcs

I think you might get a better answer with a photo or two.

here is a copy of the sump

Just until recently I had the same sump setup that you have with only difference that my drain from 180 was 1" diameter and I didn't have sand or live rock in the sump.
Not much you can do about bubbles coming out of the sock unless it really bothers you in such a way like you have excessive salt creap all over the sump area, or return pump suck them into your main tank. In this case you need to add one or two more baffles in your sump (create a bubble trap). But bubbles wont clog your filter suck! Debris that are skimmed from your main tank clogs the filter- but this is why you have your fitler suck there! Sometimes you need to change it every other day! That's why people buying bunch of them and use a few of them and then wash them in large quantities at once. Myself I'm cycling 10 of them. You can buy them cheap online (from $2.99 to $6.00 a piece). In my local fish stores they sold for $16.00 a piece. Quite expensive!
If you don't have lots of air coming down with the water in your drain pipe, then you can try to bring your pipe below water level in your sump. this should help eliminate bubbles.
BTW nice setup! Do you have some pictures of the tank?

Here is an old picture before, well week or so after being set up.

filter sock looks dirty to me in the pic...i had the same problem, if i didnt change the sock almost daily it would crude up and start overflowing, sadly for me the sock was well above the water line and leaning on the trim of the tank...took no time for it to overflow onto the floor...needless to say i run sockless for now until i can redo the sump...i just drain and clean my sump monthly...it is easier for me that way...for more then one reason...***wifey tells me that anyway**

also, does the pipe exit below or above the waterline in the sock?? think below waterline is suppose to make less bubbles
