Plumbing Cement Cure Time

I am getting ready to hook up a refugium to my tank. I just glued together some PVC fittings with purple primer and PVC cement. How long should I wait before hooking the refugium. I do not want to introduce any harmful chemicals to the tank.

As soon as it isnt wet to the touch you are fine to fire it up

It takes longer than that to fully cure, but it is plenty safe to use.

I like to wait at least an hour but have used it within minutes countless times

I usually wait around 3 hours to put it to use. Someone told me, and I cannot remember who it was, to wait overnight. I've never done that and had not problems.

You guys are the best! I finally have all the parts I need for a simple idea that became far to complex. I really wanted to be able to get it flowing tonight and your info means I don't have to wait yet another day. Thanks! I say someday, at the rate things are going, there are going to be public service ads talking about the dangers of reef keeping...just like gambling, crack or toad licking

I too have used it within minutes of glueing. Probably about 10 minutes was all I waited last time I "cut into" my return pipe to do an external durso.
