Plumbing Mag 9.5

I am plumbing a mag 9.5 into my 65 Gallon DT. The pump sits in my sump and connects to 3/4" braided tubing. Water only travels about 3' to the tank. I have a megaflow overflow which is 1". I am getting a lot of noise from vibration (even with Padding) and overflow bubbles despite my Aqueon Sump.

Would a 3/4" ball valve on this pump help with the noise? I hear the magnetic centrifuge pumps can benefit from the valve without adding stress. An guidance would be welcomed as I cannot stand all the noise!

Yep... valve down the return flow on the output of the pump..
You've got plenty of flow with a mag 9.5 at that head and can afford to loose some.

There are some other tricks too..
Like getting rid of the "megaflow" and switching to a "durso" (very similar but there are slight differences I believe that can/do make a difference)..

those mag drives are a energy hog. Especially in Bay Are with PGE. I would get a quieter DC pump thats more energy efficient.

I'll First Give the valve a try, but if I am not happy with the sound reduction I'll probably get one of those nice DC pumps Scuzy. I don't really understand how AC/DC effects the pumps but I'll do a little research. Thanks
