Plumbing overflow direct to Skimmer??

DID I SOUNDS SMRT??
Hey all,

I'm trying to plumb my skimmer direct from my overflow. The bulkhead is 1" but I put a adapter on it to go to 3/4" and used spaflex direct into the skimmer. I know I only want about 200gph through the overflow so 3/4" should be fine. I have a durso type standpipe as well.

Anyway there is bubbles and turbulance coming from the overflow pipe that attaches to the skimmer. It seems it would be hard to use it this way becuase the turbulance will effect the skimming. What is my problem?? what does everyone else do different.??

I have 2 2" overflows. One is dursoed slightly lower than the other. The flow is therefore preferentially pushed through that one and the "excess" and "surges" whatever go through the higher one. the lower one is "T"d with one limb that is higher than the other. The higher one eventually dumps into the sump. The lower one feeds the skimmer and fluidized reactors, etc....

no problems with turbulence or whatever

I've got two overflows, one with a durso, draining directly to the sump, the other going directly into the skimmer. The overflow going directly to the skimmer does not have a standpipe or anything. Just a valve to control the flow. The other overflow can handle the entire return pump should the skimmer overflow get clogged etc.

No problems with surging etc.
