plumbing suggestion needed

I need to have a built in overflow on a 120 gallon acrylic tank. I need have the overlow drilled for a bulkhead and need a suggestion on the size to go with. I will be running a panworl 50PXX return (about 600gph). I am leaning towards a single 1.25" bulkhead or dual 1" bulkheads. I am open to all suggestions, I need to have this drilled tomorrow on pickup.

id say go with 2 so you can have one on each side of tank. it will circ the water better and if you ever want a larger pump you could upgrade.

dual 1" bulk heads. If it is an inline pump which I think it is, make sure to put true union ball valves on easch side if the pump (intake and outake) in case you ever have to shut the pump down. If it is a submersable pump forget what I said lol.

I would go with 2 1 1/2 bulkheads you can never have to much but if you dont have enough you run it to problems

A single 1" bulkhead will handle 600gph. Having 2 1.5" seems a bit overkill. Personally I'd go 2 1" bulkheads.

I tend to agree with Tom. My minimiums for drains is 1 1/2" while returns are 1". It will/would be very hard to plug up a 1 1/2" drain whereas smaller drains can be reduced/plugged by critters and such causing tanks to overflow. Also having 2 drains builds in a safety factor against overflows.

I also second

You want to be able to shut off the water flow/path should you have to remove/replace the pump. Just [/B]my[/B] .02 HTH
