PM1 not recognized and another module question

I bought a working PM1 from a friend. When I plugged it into my apex the yellow light flashed briefly then went green. When I checked the display under Rename Module, the PM1 was not listed. The display was listed twice and the EB8 was in the third spot but no PM1 or DC8. I powered down the apex and restarted it with the PM1 connected and without it connected with no change in results.

The background on my Apex is as follows: Apex base unit , 1 display, 1 EB8, 1 DC8 & now 1 PM1(for temp and cal reactor pH). I did a firmware update on the base unit but there is a newer version available that has come off beta that I have not yet done. Also, I do not yet have it connected wirelessly and must run cables across my house to access the browser features.

1. Any suggestions on getting the apex to recognize the PM1 is connected?

2. I know the DC8 will not automatically be recognized under the module names, but how important is this? I programmed and have been using the DC8 for months and just now realized that it doesn't show up in the list of module names. Could that be what is showing up as Display 002?

3. My Apex was a pre-order with the first round of production. I have come to realize that the date resetting when powering down is not a normal thing and I have a faulty internal battery. Any suggestions on getting this taken care of with the Apex controlling every important aspect of my system? Is this only serviceable by sending the base unit into Neptune?

The DC8 is not a module per se - only Aquabus modules show up as modules. When you add a DC8, you will see the outlets that's all.

The battery can only be replaced by Neptune.

On your main question, you're probably going to have to backup your programs and initialize your Aquabus in order for that module to be recognized. Normally it should realize it has a new base module because the internal S/N no longer matches your friend's. However for some reason its not.

Before I did this I would contact Neptune and see if they can go into your system and correct it without you having to go through the process of saving then restoring your system.

Yes. I am just seeing the outlets on the DC8. I feel better now.

I'll run my cat5 cables across the house, break out the laptop and call Neptune about the PM1 and I guess the battery.

Check the firmware version; PM 1 came out after initial firmware releases and if the Apex was purchased before then it may not have the firmware to detect the module.

I'll do the latest firmware update first. It should have the second most recent officially released firmware update in it now, though.

OK. I went through the web page and the PM1 was there. I went ahead and set it all up. It does not show up in the list of modules on the display, though. I went ahead and updated the firmware and updated all the modules but it still does not show up on the module list on the display but does on the web page. I set up the display page and the pH and temp readouts show up, though. Any advice?

Also, after the firmware upgrade, the graphs no longer work. It looks like I'm getting errors on the page. Excellent. Are there any known graphing issues in ver. 4.05? I'm going to wait for more data tobuild up before I try it again.

If your internet access is working you can send the display in with no ill effect other than inconvenience. I sent mine in recently and it was returned to me in 6 days not bad since most of that was travel time
