I have no real idea, but I would think its algae or a sponge they are in?

I can't tell from the angle, either, but I would guess the pods are making use of sponge to hang out in.

It's not mobile, it's actually rubbery. I read on a site that pods will sometimes construct a cocoon from detritus and there own mucus/slime to evade light in an area that thrives with nutrients like the inlet of my fuge.
