Pods, neeed them or not

i have a 90 gallon soon-to-be reef tank. I say soon-to-be because i have not purchased my 1st coral quite yet. The tank has been running since October and was started with dry rock and sand, 1 shrimo tail and some bacteria in a bottle. The water i made from my RODI system and Red Sea Coral Pro salt mix. I did put 2 small pieces of live rock in to help seed but that is it. My question is do i need Pods? My livestock is:

2 - Clowns
1 - Royal Gramma
1 - One Spot Foxface
1 - Diamond Goby
1 - Cleaner Shrimp
1 - sandsifting star
snails and a couple Hermit Crabs.

So do I need Pods? will they do anything fro my setup? Give me your thoughts.

Unless you have a specialized feeder in the tank such as a Mandarin or a Pipefish I wouldn't worry too much about the pods. Diversity is cool and all, but when it really boils down to it pods as a whole don't really do much for a tank anyways, they're just there.

lol, take yourself out of the equation and then see how efficient these pods are at keeping your tank clean. You don't really have to do that, just start taking things like your skimmer, maybe an ATS or refuge offline and see what happens. Leave it in Pods hands so to say. I'm pretty sure I could give you every single pod I have in my tank and it wouldn't miss a beat.

Unless you have specialized feeders(wrasses, mandarin, etc) I would not worry about them. They will populate on their own(come in on frags, colonies, etc).

This ..... next time I buy pods will be the first time I buy pods. Don't currently have a mandarin though (and my wrasses all eat frozen).

Thank you all for your responses. I think i will hold off for now. I do not have anything that needs them for feeding. I am going to start getting corals and like some have said, Pods may come in as hitchhikers.

I have 2 tanks, in one tank I have tons of pods in the other I have none. In the tank with no pods I have a ton of spaghetti worms and hydroids. Either way the ecosystem will work itself out, but like others have said, unless you need them for feeding purposes, there are plenty of other critters who will help keep your tank clean at that level.
