Pods

For the last hour I've been researching these tiny white specks crawling on the inside of my glass and what I've found is they sound like pods of some sort and they are a good thing.

Question is....is this a good sign in the overall health of my system?

not really.

There's thousands of different types of pods- some good, some bad. Most are "good".

Most can survive environmental conditions that will kill corals.
Some pods themselves kill corals!

All I do know for sure is my blue/green chromis seems to like eating them.

Are there any ways of knowing the good ones from the bad ones (other than looking at them under a microscope)?

tip:

search old issues of Reefkeeping Online Magazine for pod info.

Is this your pod?
adults get fairly large in my system

Luke, I think what you are describing are called Ostracods(sp). They look like little micro white dots crawling on the glass toward the bottom of the tank. But, I could be wrong. Here is a picture that I found on the net that looks like what I am trying to describe.
