I was wondering who out their (besides kids) actually names their fish in your Aquarium and what are they?

I don't.
To me the fish are no different than the coral, clams, cuc, etc.
If one dies, it's more a feeling of failure (if it was sooner than expected) or a feeling of sadness for having had it so long. Like I have some coral and a clam that have made it through several tank setups and are still with me so I'm proud of that and would be extra bummed to see them die.
But they are not pets to me.

Sometimes. Depends on the fish. If one displays a particular personality, or demonstrates a particular quality...

I once had a large lionfish, named 'Paula', after an old girlfriend of mine. Beautiful... and poisonous.

My wife names our fish based off old movies she likes, and i dont get the reference so i put my spin on it. This tank works out to mob names

Wally the wrasse (yellow coris wrasse)

Franky the Chromis (yellow and black chromis)

Lt. John to leep them in line (orange spot diamond goby)

Some get names but most do not and it is usually my wife that names them. Some examples:

- Stripes - sailfin tang
- Lips - naso tang
- Goldy - goldflake angel
- Dory - hippo blue tang (of course)
- Moorish idol - Gill (another non-original)
- Butthead - powder blue tang

I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting!

This.

And LOL!

Mine are:

Violet - royal gramma (purple, duh)

Obi-wan the Goby - yellow watchman goby - my goofball father named him that, I just call him Goby

Omen - black ocellaris clownfish (Nemo backwards - get it?)

:lolspin:

Yep, most fish and some (distinguishable) inverts. No corals though.

The fish names are usually pretty creative...like our Blue Hippo Tang is named...Blue. The Sixline wrasse is name, Sixline or Wrassey. Stuff like that. Usually whatever my wife comes up with, and who am I to agrue.

We have:
Lipstick Blonde Naso- Sandi (from Grease)
Yellow Tang- Woodstock
Anthias (4)-
Big Daddy
Bruce, but now it's Katelyn since we have a more dominant male it's back to female..lol
Thing 1 and Thing 2
Coral Beauty- Lil Miss
Dragon Goby- Puff Puff
Cleaner Wrasse- José
Lubbock Wrasse- Sem Pi
Coral Banded Shrimp- Jacque
Clowns (2)- Fred & Ethel

Depends on the animal and how much I anthropomorphise (spelling?!) it.

Big 5' eel? yeah I can see myself naming that.
little 3" clown goby? nope.

We have...
Fatty the blue throat trigger
Captain the sail fin tang
Old yeller the yellow tang
Blue the powder blue tang
Nemo and Walt the clowns
Super purple the orchid dottyback
The Bobreeka clan is the 3female and 1male lyre tail anthais group

I will edit this but wifenand I call our Longnose hawkfish by the name, "Shrimp D**k". I dont know why but it stuck (something about the way he looks). He rules the tank, opening his mouth and perching on every coral. Only reason he has a name is because he is truly one of the most interesting fish we have ever had.

Most of mine named by the grandkids but I have named a few and my wife one.

Pyramid butterfly ....Tut (wife named him)

Firefish.....Alfalfa (for obvious reasons)

Flame Wrasse....Hot Rod (flame decals on a lot of rods)

Ours are named
Tomi - the Tomini tang
Fii - firefish actually the second we've had. First one named flip as it jumped out of the container during acclimation. So this one is flip ii or Fii
Walter - yellow and purple wrasse
Briggs - short for Briggs and Stratton - lawnmower blenny
Scooter- red dragonette
Nevel and cutie - pink skunk clown fish. More orange than pink
Jacques - skunk cleaner shrimp. Nemo reference.
Fiskar - scissor tail goby
