poly toxin oops

In the context of the quote you posted, the author is specifically looking at the action of the toxin on sperm cells motility.1 Totally different realm of chemistry for sperm and cardiomyocytes.

There are a number of published in vitro studies which I found in PubMed using your search criteria. Although, many of them do use caffeine (for its Calcium modulating effect), none indicate a reversal of the Palytoxin chemistry at the cellular level.

Moreover, most of the studies are using caffeine in the micro-milliMolar range. I cringe at actually calculating out how many cups of coffee or cans of Amp it would take to load the avg 70 kg hobbyists with caffeine in that range. Suffice it to use, it would not be possible.

Again, no doubt that the diuretic effects of caffeine may shorten the duration of symptoms, but my money is still on the emergency room for acute illness.

V hit the Starbucks on your way over and we can test this out:)
I have a wide range of zoas to play with. Personally it seems like the ugly browns produce masive amounts of slime and assuming toxin as well. The sweet bright color ones don't seem to slime as much.

Yup, been grooming cats for 25 years. I shave about 5/week & bathe them too.
SOmeone call Discovery Channel instead of "Deadliest Catch" "Deadliest Grooming"

LOL, I have been bitten quite a lot in 25 years (although not so often anymore). Some have been severe but lately they just don't get infected like they did in the earlier days of my career. I have only used antibiotics for a bite 1x & that was because I already had an appt for a physical the next day & my Dr made me take them. I know a fellow that waited so long to get treated (I guess it's not too macho to go to the ER becaused your cat bit you) & while in the hospital, the bacteria from the bite went up the guy's arm into his heart & he went into heart failure.
I wondered about the pain management potintail of PolyToxin.
Is this the same poison that puffers have? Because there is a study on that toxin being used for pain relief & even detoxing from opiates.

My sister is a bio chemist that works on high risk disease drugs(aids cancer) and pain management. I will have to ask her tomorrow.

You guys got me interested now. US, Canada, Europe I know she can get info on it. Sad thing is she so damn smart its hard to believe we came from the same seed.

Thanks puffer Those were interesting. Have you seen any on the palytoxins? Thats what I was refering to
