Polyps Galore, 70+ Colony Zoa tank

Hello i2as kass:

What actinic and daylight bulbs were you using when you opened this thread, please?

Thanks,
Grandis.

It's hard to say, I have used so many brands in the past. If I had to take a guess I would say they were all Giesemann bulbs most likely.

I noticed the balance on my camera was WAAAYY off after taking these, either way enjoy!

Zoas:

Some misc including my dwarfs (Golden & A. Flameback) eating my Red Planet... I think this will be a Zoa only tank shortly.

Still beautiful.

I'll ask my question again, since it is still relevant in your smaller set up, too.
When placing your frags/colonies, do you have any "rules of thumb" you follow regarding vertical or horizontal location in relation to your lighting, such as lighter colors go under more light or vice versa? For instance, Purple Deaths seem to be a polyp that can lose its coloration very easily if it isn't in the optimal lighting, so did you have a spot you thought would be good for them in particular, or do things just seem to work out due to your excellent care and husbandry?

Also, on your new tank, using one of your Radions, or different lighting?

I am amazed at these zoas. I am a newbie with zoas and have only four different types. I am not sure if they are even worthy of a name. They are doing great and seem to be adding a few polps each. I have only had them about 3 weeks so I guess that is good growth. I do have a question about growth in general. Does all growth occur on the outside of the polyp, if so should I frag them to allow more growth points? Where is the best place to order the cheaper, but not brown, zoanthids. I would like to add a little color to the tank, but I don't think I am ready to pay a lot per single polyp just yet. Sorry for all of the questions but I dream of having a colorful tank one day and what better way to learn than ask the experts.
