if you havent seen the FTS, scroll back through... this display in the most incredible zoa garden you will see ;)

(edit) oh wait, i think we have a jacker lol...

any pics of the Cheato channel? i was wondering how you set that up? and you have one hell of a tank im trying to do the same but with a 40g breeder!

Those zoa/palys are beautiful. I want a zoa/paly garden too. I've started with few frags of zoas. I hope they grow fast in my tank.

Very nice! Looks like a tank full of zoanthids.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Voodoo magic ;)

Awesome tank.
Could you explain your plumbing a little. I see where water goes from the overflow to the dsb/mangrove/fuge and the sump. Where does fuge flow to? Any more explanation would be awesome, pics don't hurt either. Thanks

  • Water is pumped from the sump to the main tank.
  • It then overflows into the overflow box, which has a total of 3 bulk heads.
  • One is a back up, one leads to the sump, one to the refugium.
  • Most of the water is flows into refugium which in turn flows back into the sump.
  • A smaller amount of water flows through the stand pipe directly back into the sump.

Hope that helps!

Haha wrong thread maybe?

I sold the Cheato channel when I switched to the new tank. Scroll back a few pages and take a look a the Youtube video, it shows my much larger cheato river with the mangroves. Thanks for the post!

Have you had any issues since the switch to this tank?

All and all I can say the swap has been pretty good on everyone, certain strains are out growing others but in general everyone is happy. That being said I certainly have had my losses (A couple larger and older colonies to boot :hmm5:).

Amazing tank! Do you mind sharing your settings for the Radions?

Not quite sure how to do that? Thanks for the compliment.

any update?

Uhmmm, heres a few shots:

nice!

what is the max percentage of brightness you have the radions on?

my zoas dont seem to do well when I push my radions over 80%...just curious what you have as the MAX? what is the range as well?

your tank is awesome, thanks for sharing :)

Just insane... I patterened my humble little 50g after you tank. I was hoping for a good SPS zoo mix but it seems as though SPS doesn't want to do well in my tank yet. I think it's just still too new, I started it in January. My zoas on the other hand, are doing amazing so I'm taking that as a small victory for now. Thanks for the inspiration!

Beautiful tank!

I applaud your keeping up with all the questions (some asked 4 and 5 times) and comments. Lots of patience and hard work for you and very informational for us!

After reading the entire thread, I have not seen anyone ask about placement of your zoas. When placing your frags/colonies, do you have any "rules of thumb" you follow regarding vertical or horizontal location in relation to your lighting, such as lighter colors go under more light or vice versa? For instance, Purple Deaths seem to be a polyp that can lose its coloration very easily if it isn't in the optimal lighting, so did you have a spot you thought would be good for them in particular, or do things just seem to work out due to your excellent care and husbandry?
