Polyps Galore, 70+ Colony Zoa tank

My mix contains a sea food blend of clams, squid, shrimp, oysters, broccoli and carrots, nori, mysis and brine shrimp, spirulina, oyster eggs, kent Zooplex, V3 Tripple Strength concentrated vitamin supplement, and Tropic Marin Pro-Reef Snow. I only used about half of the green supplement in my mix and small portions of the other supplements too. Just didn't want to over feed without knowing if my system could handle it. My sump is not as big as yours. You will get a rise in nitrates if your system isn't used to that kind of feeding but don't worry. The algae outbreak in my tank was very small. My tank got used to the feeding after a week or two. I feed my tank every third night. I also dose with vitamin C twice a day. I hope this helps. All I can say is give it a try. Kass's tank is reason enough to take the dive. The cost of my feed was less than $60 and I have enough to last me at least 4 to 5 months.

Dude, you have such a beautiful setup. I only wish my tank could be half as beautiful, and I will be happy.

Wait until you see the new photos I post before you that statement:hmm2:, I'm pretty happy with the aquascape but it looks ALOT different.

I really want to add oyster or urchin eggs to the formula but I cant find any in Calgary. Eric Borneman states something about it in one of his husbandry books, just need to make sure it's the perfect particle size.

Home made food is the way to go, cheap and you get quality control.
Thanks for trying it out!

Some new photos of Flash Gordon, after having a bunch of people over I'm not 100% on the orange socket tang ID anyone have any other suggestions? He's constantly changing color from black to white and has the craziest silver lines when he's angry.

Do you touch the water? I bet there is so much palytoxin in there it would kill you instantly!! :uzi: But seriously, amazing tank, makes me want to go out and buy some more zoas right now...and another tank...

Your kind words are appreciated folks, I can't stop staring at the tank after making it zoas only so at least its not me haha.

IMO Palytoxin is a scapegoat for a broad assortment of tank related illnesses and tends to get a pretty bad wrap. The toxin has only been located in a very select few species, I'm not saying don't use caution (As all Cnidarians have toxins in them) but I personally don't use gloves or eye protection unless fragging.

Couple new actinic photos:

Top downs:

I picked up a new colony that I have never seen before today, I thought it was magicians but I'm almost positive it's a zoa because of the size. Magician palys are like 4 times the size of these little guys, there the red ones located in the top of the photo. I will grab a better photo tomorrow but anyone have any idea of an id on them?

New colony opened up pretty quick, here are some day light shots. They look exactly like magicians just 1/4th the size.

Not sure if it's been stated already, but do you dose anything special to that tank or do anything special to it to help the zoas? I've been inspired by your tank to make the tank I'm getting in a few months a zoa/shroom only tank. :)

Read back a few pages he posted what supplement he uses. It's just another "GNC" type multivitamin supplement. Trick is being free of garbage we don't want to add to our tanks.

There is a detailed write up a few pages back, I will be updating my zoa care website shortly so stay tuned.

Not mutlivitamin, multigreen I would not recommend putting a mens over60 in my tank haha.

I have owned ring of fires before, these ones look nothing like them. There a small red polyp with a explosion of teal/green around the oral plate.

One of the most amazing tanks I've ever seen. Target feeding palys seems like a good idea.
Thanks!

I have a serious problem when it comes to moving everything around, I think I like this new scape so I have a New Years resolution to not move it. I have decided to remove most of my remaining LPS and go back to the twigs (My Red Planet just looks so loonnlleeyyyyy ).

FTS:

Anyone any an ID on this nem, the store didn't know for sure.
