tank filling is complete.........

I double checked the SG and temp to try and match my existing running system, then I let'er rip. So for now, it is just a running full tank of water. I plan on adding the sand and rocks over the weekend, and then the lights in about a week.

Here is a little system update
It is now time to retire my work horse ETSS1000 skimmer


I replaced it with a Deltec skimmer more rated for my new system volume. :thumbsup:

You're using crushed coral instead of sand? Is that what you had in your office tank ?

I wanted to try something different for this set up. (I hope I made the right choice)
I washed the CC down a whole bunch before putting into the tank. It still made it cloudy though. I filtered it with a 50 micron pad as it came through the drain. It cleared up overnight

I have more flow in this tank than the office tank that I had.
With the office tank, I was always battling bare spots in in the sand, and had to from time to time re-position the displaced sand. I am thinking this time around this wont be a problem.

Also, I have a electrician coming to my house on Thursday to wire up (4) 20 amp dedicated outlets under the tank, to be used for lights & pumps

and then this weekend I should have some time to transfer the live rock into the tank...

Getting ready for transfer of the rock.
I had to disconnect my 50 gallon water change container,skimmer, and calcium reactor. All of which were in use on top of the sump. I had been using a piece of plywood as a cover. It was on the sump since spring of 2010, I had not seen the rock since then.
A bunch of this 750 pounds of rock will be going up into the display...

I had these left over, so they went back into the sump.
The rock in the picture close to the green container weighs around 40 pounds

currently working on trying to quiet down the humming sound from the (2) super dart gold pumps that are under the tank for closed loop.. They are louder than I anticipated.

The tank has been running for about 3 weeks now.
System seems to be rather stable.
The upgrade in skimmer size seems to be improving things.

Got the lighting done over the past weekend, and transferred a few coral into the tank to get things started....

The lighting has been up for two weeks now.... and I don't think the coral stressed during the transfer. They were under the same lighting conditions in the grow-out tank, and in the same system water.

For such large coral colonies I would take about half of the rock out of that tank. You need space to grow corals, not rocks.
