They are freakin intresting to me and have been thinking about possibly adding one to my reef. The only thing I think I would need to be worried about is it getting along with my randalls pistol shrimp.
i had a pom pom shrimp (AKA boxing shrimp) i loved it but it never liked to come out and always used to hide in the rock work. i never had it with a pistol shrimp though but i dont think i would attempt it. i have a pistol shrimp in one of my tanks and that thing likes to kill everything from crabs, hermits to peppermint shrimp. i know there are alot of other people on here that have done it as well.
I've had two for over 2 years, one in a nano and one in a 180.
VERY cool.
VERY cute.
VERY ineresting.
VERY VERY rarely see them. Maybe once every few months at night with a flashlight.
They tend to stay up in the rock while the pistol shrimp live on the sand. I've had no problem keeping them in the same tank.
I have 2 pom poms w/ 2 randall's. One of my pom poms used to hang out at the entrance of the pistol's cave and nothing ever happened to them. They're still living happily together. I think the reason is that the pom poms stay in the rock work and the pistols hang in the sand. I even have a pom pom in a seperate tank w/ 2 huge tiger pistols, no foul play there either. HTH.
