Xenia tends to favour nutrient rich enviroments, which is I believe is why some find them easier to keep then others, but they tend to be very hit and miss.
I've had a colony do very well for 6 months, and then just shrivel up and die.
Originally posted by Kdocimo90 hmm then maybe it isnt worth it to buy a Large from liveaquaria lol.. or even buy it at all.. pshhhh
hmm.. i forgot the live aquaria has the guarantee... is it worth the risk getting a large colony? My family is coming from all over the place so i wanted to get something nice and big for them to see... I thought this would be perfect because of the unusual pulsing it has...
Its defiantly a attractive piece of coral. If you parameters are in check and you have good flow and lighting I don't see you having a problem with it.
parameters are good.. I just checked them after my water change last week... flow shouldnt be a problem, i have 2 1200gph returns and 4 koralia 4s... as for lighting i have t-5s, 14x 39 watt bulbs
How fast growing are these guys?
The only reason why I really was thinking about getting a "Large" was because I wented a big colony of it before thanksgiving you know lol
lol...
well how long do you think it would take for it to "not work out". Like do they tend to die within the first week of being introduced to a new tank? Or is that not the case at all?
Try the CTARS forum and ask for xenia frag. They raffled off frags at last meeting for 5 dollars I think. I bought a silver xenia frag for two dollars and it seems fine. Check out when the next meetings are being held.
I would have to guess cause everyone's tank is different but they may live up to 2 weeks in a swamp of a tank till they die off. But I don't think you have a swamp so you should have them for 3 weeks lmao, just playing you should be fine!
