Pomacanthus maculosus

Great looking Angel!
It's a bit hard to tell from that angle, but is the caudal fin a nice solid yellow? It looks like it.
A bit disappointed with the translucent look of my own's tail.

It's solid in color, but not a brilliant yellow like an Asfur... more a creamy yellow.

Mine was very shy, and didn't bug anyone that didn't bug him. Definitely one of my favorites. Took awhile for him to trust me, but we got there eventually. Looks like yours is venturing out just fine?

Every Mac I've seen has been shy and somewhat timid. Even the large ones are a bit reserved. But that's just my experience with them. Awesome fish, thanks for the update...

Thanks for the info! Mine is a big puppy dog so far... hope he stays that way :)

Wow, that is super cool. I've always been curious about this species as they are so unique when adults. Yours is really starting to get that nice adult marking. Great looking fish. I may have to consider this when I move to a FOWLR in a few months.

Wow! What a difference from her DD pic! Adult markings on/near the head are really starting to come in! How much would you guess she has grown since you got her? Beautiful fish!

Thanks, yes, the loss or stripes isn't really total, and depends on her mood, but is a pretty recent occurrence. The flash of the camera on that current pic really makes the scales on the forehead look more visible than they really are. I've only had her a year, and she's now about 6" TL.

Thanks! I know they get big, so not sure I'll be able to keep her forever, but hopefully for a good long while.

I missed the one on DD this week - had him in my cart, then.... poof. Hope he goes to a good home.

Sorry, I snagged him. He is in a 6' tank with 12 yellow tails damsels and a 2' Japanese dragon eel. Once he gets bigger, I might move him into my 8' tank.
Doing great, eating hours after arriving and swimming openly in front view and no aggression from the eel since I keep it well fed.

That's awesome.. Ya, don't let the eel eat him!

There are lots of caves since there are tons of LR in the tank. Watching them interact, the angel is not one bid afraid of the eel. the temperament of this particular eel seems to be pretty mellow so far.

So far, this fish is definitely timid. But looking great! The flash of the camera makes her look more juvi/striped than she is to the naked eye.
