pop-eye treatment?

I have a H. chrysus (canary wrasse) that recently developed a swollen eye with some redness entering the whites of his eye. A few weeks ago he decided to exterminate his reflection, and I think this behavior (slamming himself against the glass numerous times a day) may have injured his eye. So...What about treatment? I assume that this is an injury with complicating bacterial infection, so I would use an antibiotic. What kinds have worked for y'all? Do they ever resolve on their own? BTW, I feed mysis soaked in zoecon and new life spectrum pellets soaked in vitachem. I do have a qt tank, so I can treat him...Just hoping I could benefit by other people's experience...Thanks

If your sure it's popeye then the best treatment is Maracyn by Mardel. It usually goes away within a week of treatment. Popeye can also cure itself with just keeping the water quality at top notch.

Is the eye just red?? Or is it also cloudy/hazy???

I had a labouti w/pop eye & treated it w/Maracyn & did not see any difference.
I made the decision to put him in my main tank & w/in 3-4 days he was out n about & his eyed looked better.
I am believer in good quality water & no fish to pick on him & it should clear up on its own.

Thanks for the input! Sounds like I should leave him in there for a while and see what happens. I think my water quality is pretty good; I have a low bioload and a strong skimmer, plus my sps look pretty normal.

The eye appears to be about three times larger than the good eye; it may be slightly cloudy, but not very much so, mostly just swollen and red. The fish eats well, but its behavior has changed dramatically. It used to be a strong midwater swimmer, now it is near the bottom, circling toward its good eye and is extremely shy.

i had a cb angel and it went away in a couple od weeks.

My morish idols had it i removed one and did a nice water changed it cleared up in a weeks time. If fish are not harassing it, then good water quality should help it heal.

One damaged eye is not usually a symptom for pop eye. Like you said, the fish may have damaged it and will intime heal itself. Just keep water quality stable. I had a Starcki damsel with a damaged eye about a month ago and it was healed in 7-10days.
