popeye treatment

i recently got a pair of angels that i have had in qt for about a week and all of a sudden i noticed that hies eye is swollen on one side. my reading tells me that the injury is likely mechanical but is there anything i can do here? disease link wont work

If the fish is in the QT then an antibiotic should help ... marcyn2 is often available in Petco/Petsmarts and should work.

What type of angels? Many angels come in with flukes which can cause eye injuries. Either way like kevin2000 stated use something like Maracyn II. If they do have flukes (FW dip will tell you) I have used Maracyn II and Prazipro together on various fish with issues.

If the fish has unilateral exopthalmus/swollen eye, then flukes are not likely to be the problem. Neobenedinia typically presents as slight clouding to both eyes, with little underlying swelling. I didn't see any mentioned of cloudiness.
Another key diagnostic for trauma would be the presence/absence of any clear bubbles in the sclera.
A picture would help, but I would lean towards mechanical injury, with our without secondary bacterial infection.

its a pair of watanabei angels. his eye is not cloudy. my camera is in shanghai right now so thats out. i noticed that he sometimes swims into a rock i have in there. maybe thats the issue. should i remove the rocks that he keeps hitting?

I got 3 Bellus angels in a couple of weeks ago and the large female had popeye, cloudy eye and white thread like worm (very thin and short) hanging out around the eye. I treated with Prazipro for 5 days the eye cleared but still popped and I proceeded to administer with Maracyn 2 (recommended by fellow reefer here on RC) for 5 days. The eye looks normal and she started to swim out more and more to eat now. All inverts are fine with no apparent ill effect. Good luck with yours.

well as i look more closely there are no external worms. the eye looks like the other eye except it is swollen like he got punched in the face. the eye is the same color.
