Well i just got my d**k knocked in the dirt by my milwauke CD97 meter. Do these things have a capacitor in them that can discharge? I have been gone or a week to FL and just wanted to check on the water quality and had the meter in hand reaching in the bucket to test it when it all the sudden SNAPPED (like a static charge) and shocked the hell out of me! Needless to say i dropped it in the container and it is now trashed and not workin. Anyone ever have this happen to them? This really makes me mad! It came free with my ro/di so i guess it goes back to the old saying that you get what you pay for!!!!!!

When i set up my ro/di unit i was getting shocked every time i took the lid off and stuck my hand in. My ucle said to ground the container with a peice of metal wire connected to the hot water pipe. I think I used aluminum so it would not rust. It did the trick I no loger get shocked.

Lid off what. I think I'm confused. I just have my ro/di connected to a faucet behind my washer. I run the water into a 32 gallon rubbermaid trash can??? You might be talking about something completely different.

What did you connect the other end of the aluminum to? Or did you just put it in the water??? I'm not good with electric but I basically plug everything into a grounded plug. I will be installing a gfi on the outlet soon but is there any extra precautions I can take?
