possible disease on Angel

Hi guys,

Please look at the dorsal fin on this queen of mine, I believe it came in on Thursday in a shipment, I got it Friday. Now the fish swims fine, pecking on sponges under the rocks, it has not really eaten prepared yet. I am not too stressed on it eating yet for a newbie, it does appear tamish and not hide all day in the rocks.

what is stressing me, is the fins. Is this disease on the dorsal fine? Please look closely. I will add a few pics

Bump, anyone that can i.d.

It has already been ID'd, it's lymphocystis.

You treat it with good water quality and good feeding. It goes away on it's own if the fish is healthy.

Since you have so much algae growing in the tank, I think you probably arent running adequate filtration on that tank, obviously you've got a lot of excess nutrients in the water. That could seriously hamper the healing process.

Agree with Recty on this one.... Looks like you are having a husbandry issue. Run some carbon,GFO and start doing weekly water changes in the 20% a week range.

Lymphocystis, it's viral like warts in humans and will go away on it's own.

thanks for the help there. If it is untreatable, can I add the fish to the DT? I have been adding vitamins to the food, the queen is eating lots of brine and krill for the last 3 days, wont touch nori, but I have been adding vitamins to the food also.
I just think there will be much less stress in the display tank than a 3ft quarenteen tank?
