This fish that is below looks to have the posterior of a caeruleopunctatus and the action in the front chrysocephalus. What do you all think? T

Well, I know at least one Researcher thinks the Bluespotted is just a sex or growth phase of the Maze. Or was that an Orangeface???? These guys are so confusing anyway, obviously they are in the process of diverging from each other.

Matthew
Maybe Copps knows?

How big is this you think? Wondering how big before one can recognize between a blueline, maze, and supermale maze.

"Mazes" or "Orangefaces" are assumed to be C. septentrionalis x C. caeruleopunctatus hybrids, and have many variations due to differentiating amounts of genetic input from the parents. I'm betting this guy has a much higher percentage of C. caeruleopunctatus DNA input than he does C. septentrionalis.

I slightly agree. LOL

Matthew
PS. I didn't know there were "Super Males" in the Pomacanthids. Info & pics please! Always want more angelfish info.

+1

And how do you slightly agree?

Also there aren't supremale angels, their color doesn't change based on phase like wrasses or parrotfish.

Also the bluespotted is not a phase of the maze, so you may want to double check your sources, also do you have any of their research? Like AuroraDrvr said the maze is a hybrid of the bluespot and blueline. The bluespot is a legit species, not a form of a hybrid :rolleye1:
