Possums are awesome!

I have been debating about adding a possum wrasse to my 75 gallon reef tank. The tank has 85lbs. of fiji LR and plenty of places to hide. Presently, I don't think any of the current fish I have would be too much of a problem (green chromis, ocellaris clowns, and yellowtail damsel). Anyone had a positive possum wrasse experience ? The yellow tails are pretty meek and mild so they should'nt be too much of a problem. What are your thoughts on a possum wrasse?

just recently got a possum wrasse. He's in with a royal gramma and a flasher wrasse. Comes out quite a bit but seems to eat more off the live rock/glass than food I put in. Is not an overly aggressive eater. I might worry about the yellowtail damsel picking on the possum (any damsel can be aggressive).

With the amount of LR you have the possum should have plenty to eat. Don't know how much it will come out in the open if harassed.

In general Wetmorella are shy fish and stay in the shadow. Menaing for our mostly highly lit stone corla tanksMy W.nigirpiniata is more to see then W. triocellata or even W. albofasciata.

I was considering one, but after researching was told in my 90 gal. I probalbly wouldn't see it much. And if I spend $60 on a fish, I would like to see it. They are really cool looking though. I would worry about the Damsel too. My Blue devils weren't bad with other semi aggresive fish, but beat up the peaceful ones. HTH

I have had a possum wrasse in my 135 gal for about a year now. You can see it scavaging thru the rocks looking for food all day. I have it in a tank with a royal gamma, yellow watchman, tru clowns, yellow tang, hippo tang, black fin fairy wrasse. I did have a pair or yellow tails in the tank at first, but had to take them out for harassing him. They are pretty cool to watch picking at the rocks. Get rid of the yellow tails, they are the devil.

Are they very difficult to train to eat mysis, brine shrimp, or flake foods? I have a pretty good population of pods for him to eat but worry about the possum being too shy to come out and join the other fish I have when the dinner bell rings. I may try to put yellow tail in 24 gallon nano cube I have (if I can catch it).

My Wetmorella eat all kind of froozen food, but I doubt you will have luck with flakes. I also feed small pellets but have not seen them eat this yet.
