Post processing - what are you using?

So is everyone using Lightroom nowadays to post process? I need too for the archiving aspect haven't taken the time to really learn it. I have LR3 I rarely used and just ordered LR5. Though because of proficiency and habit my workflow is still DPP then into PS.

I'm curious what you guys are up too with this aspect of our hobby.

I might be too new in to this to account for much, but I'm learning an old, never-used copy of PhotoShop (*cough* SIX *cough*) and like it. I was strongly advised to get LightRoom as well, so, I have both.

With that kind of processing power going for me you'd think my photos should be able to do the laundry on command or something.

Still going LR5 to PSE9 on this puter. A new puter is in the programming. It has LR5 and PSE12. Been debating the cloud.

LR5 and CS6.

To add to this, I do all my develop type work in LA and most of my selective, or detail work, in PS. In PS, I make lots of use of layers, masking and curves.

This is what I was understanding a lot of people do. I love the masking and layers of PS. Though my understanding is that LR has progressed quite a bit with regards to it's ability to be selective in adjustments and use a non-destructive workflow. Seemed last I was reading about it (maybe 2 years ago or more) LR was really gearing up for photos and PS was heading a little more toward design and graphics. Not sure if that's true or if it happened but it seemed to be the word on the street 2 or 3 years ago.

LR, while it has localized adjustment tools, is really just an advanced RAW convertor; it generally works on the image as a whole. I just find that I have more control over local adjustments within PS. When I need to brighten a single area, I usually do so with curves/masks. It allows me to not only punch up the luminance of a single area, but the contrast too.

LR 5.6 for cataloguing, then edit in CS6

So you import everything via LR and assign keywords? Do you do any processing in LR or just export and do it all in PS? I have heard the noise reduction and sharpening in LR is pretty good now.

I do the cataloguing/filing but not keywording... I hate typing keywords, but I like to be able to search by lens used, camera, etc. I'm finding that the majority of my work now involves actions and layers (more compositing) so I'm often working in CS6. The only exception is when I shoot weddings, since I'm dealing with 3K+ images, I just do quick edits in LR and export from there.

I use LR5 and CS5 for editing - I find LR way easier to use for NR than CS5. For sharpening I think CS5 is a lot better, but I think having sharp image right out of the camera body negates using CS5 for sharpening over LR5 - anymore I rarely apply sharpening in either program. I think sharpening is something that is overdone.

99.8% of my PP is LR... I used CS5 mostly for stitching and occasionally for healing, cloning, or content-aware removal of an un-appealing object.
