First off thank you to Lourdes, Eddie and all who played a roll in making this Trip a success. My wife and I had a great time and probably lost a pound or two between all the walking we did :)

I'll get some pics up as soon as I locate the cable for my camera. But I know some other members are back as well. Saw many of you with cameras so.........Post up your pics!

Also, thank you to Victor and crew at WWC for taking care of me. Even my wife was amazed by their display tanks. She's like oh that's really pretty. Me: Yea thats blah blah blah coral. Her: You should get that. Me: I already have it. Mine just isnt as colored up. :o Repeat that about 5 times LOL

Can't wait for the frag swap and MACNA now.

Marvin- Lourdes, my GF did 95% of the work. It drove us BOTH INSANE though, so i guess I can take some credit.

FMAS would like to thank all of those that attended, we hope you had a good time. This is just one of the many events we have planned for the rest of the year. Those that attended and are not members, this was one of the few events we opened up to the public. Membership has its privileges!!! Join now www.fmas1955.org.

ORCA were excellent hosts. It was very nice of them to have invited us.

The main feature in Manta (other than the ride) is an impressive 225,000 gallon tank that is viewable from many angles, including the ride wait line. It is spectacular to stand in the underwater portal and view the graceful rays and fish swimming over you. Two of the four spotted eagle rays, Maverick and Goose (Top Gun) were born in Sea Worlds Discovery Cove.

The Manta Reef Aquarium is an awesome fully stocked 12,000 gallon reef tank. This tank is using 12,000 watts of metal halide lights, with another 4000 watts in reserve. The lighting fixture s so large that it is mounted on two electric boat lifts to allow adjustment and service. It contains 7,000 lbs of live rock mounted to quarried limestone base rock. Circulation is 10x turnover provided by one of two 15 HP electric pumps. Calcium reactor is a Schraun unit that holds 200 lbs of media. The kalkwasser reactor holds 50 lbs of kalkwasser. Approximately half of the corals were provided by ORA. UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT TAKE A PIC OF IT FROM THE FRONT ONLY ABOVE.

A big thanks to Lourdes, Eddie and all the other board members who made this trip possible. We had a blast and the chance to meet new friends.

Great pictures everyone. Looked like a great turnout and a lot of fun.

Just wondering if that double union ball valve is really as big as it looks?

-Matthew

I believe it was that big. That, or Eddie is a lot smaller than I remember. lol. Just joking Eddie. All the equipment there was just like our equipment at home, just a lot larger. I mean look at the size of the skimmers behind Eddie. Look a the Kalk reactor behind Julio and the amount of salt they use. Those big drums outside are sand filters for one sting ray tank at the Manta ride. The equipment was really impressing.
