They are a little more pricey but theyre awesome fish. I ended up buying a female and they paired up immediately. They live in the same burrow with one candycane pistol shrimp and are always side by side. Great relationship

I have a YWG pair that are paired with a pistol shrimp, but at the moment I can't find any pictures of all three of them together. They're one of my favorite things to watch in my tank.

Tiger Pistol/Snapping Shrimp (Alpheus bellulus)

Randall's/Orange Stripe Shrimp/Prawn Goby (Amblyeleotris randalli)

The pistol shrimp had a Yasha White Ray Shrimp Goby (Stonogobiops yasha) that was awesome and our facorite, but a bad babysitter while we were out of country crashed the tank and killed it. I like the Randall's, but I wish I'd been patient for another Yasha. The Randall's has been extremely hardy (and fat).

mine must do all there work at night. I hardly ever see the shrimp unless its at night. I do hear him popping off a few rounds every day.

Little of topic being a feeding question but how do you guys feed your pairs. Also what.

The pair will never leave their spot for food. Ever. Target feeding never really worked that well for me because they immediately retreat into the den and by the time they come back out, the food has been long devoured by my other fish. I eventually gave up on that idea and stuck to feeding normally. Food inevitably floats on by and the YWG grabs it. He will eat just about anything - Brine, Mysis, Bloodworms and a variety of flake foods. No need to worry about feeding pistol shrimp. They live off detritus and copepods/amphipods. If you have a well established tank with a fuge, they will sustain on their own. If not, then I recommend sinking tablets. Oh and also if you have small shrimp, like small cleaners/fires and peppermints, there's a high possibility that they'll get shot in the face and eaten. Pistol shrimp are amazing ambush hunters. Just FYI. :)

Well then I'll have to house peppermint just as a healthy meal for the pistols ;)

I can't catch a pic of them right now, but I've got a two spot goby that lives in my nano tank. He actually hangs out with my tail spot blenny more than the pistol shrimp haha
