Post your questions and ideas here!!

Two more questions, James: what makes the recirc better than an in sump? And, will I have room under the 70g for a recirc setup and everything that goes along with a closed loop?

A recirc and in sump are two different features of a skimmer. On my 75g, i had my skimmer outside of the sump and my closed loop pump sitting next to it. So, a recirc isn't necessarily better, just different. I think you can get some skimmers in-sump and recirc and some out of sump and recirc. My skimmer is not recirc and does just fine.

I can't answer your question because I am not building your stand or sump. You need to give me more details for me to answer that. You know??

my deltec recirc. works perfect in my sump. I just didnt have room without a fish room to get it to work without doing it like that. I have so little room i have to assemble the skimmer in my sump because it is so tight in there.

I have the Aqua Bee on there and it has not broke thank god. So many people have problems with it, but it works great for me. I get a full canister of nog every 4 days with very little maintanence. If the Aqua Bee fails i have a back up plan, a few people have made some other pumps work and there is some diy links here and there.

Yeah, I saw the Eheim mod and would go for that myself. Wanna offload your calcium reactor?? Do you have some good pics of it running. Does it have the co2 recirculating feature??

no, i really wanna keep my reactor Yeah it has a glass defusser and you see all the micro bubbles running through it. I am not positive if the co2 gas recylces but i am sure it has to with how it is setup, have you ever seen pics of reactor, it is called the shuran jetstream pico 1. It deffenitly has a recirculating pump just like the rest and than i use a little powerhead to feed the system.

I've seen pics, but never one up close. Spazz and Bill Wann claim they perfected the Shuran and that the commercial one sucks. I have tried contacting Spazz and his new company, but never got a response. If and/or when we have a meeting at your place, I'd like to deep dive your system and see what makes it tick.

yeah that is fine with me, i think it works great. Maybe it is one of the better ones and maybe it is not. All I know is that i know how to work it and i think any one could easily.

Also, the search function still won't work for me...I get the following error:

Sorry. The search function has been temporarily disabled due to high server load. Please try your search again in a few minutes. Other site features will still be functional.

Anyone else get this message consistantly? I can maybe get one out of 50 searches to go through...very frustrating...

THe GenX is kinda loud, but performs very well.

One usually gets the high server load error during peak times... I don't usually have a problem...

Did you determine a skimmer and closed loop pump?? I have a GenX PCX 40 for sale... Used very little... Let me know if interested. It'd do a sweet job on an MR-1...

your welcome. Bookmark it, live it, love it! I've bookmarked it EVERY TIME I get a new computer, change computers, use public computers...

Val, your pm box was full, so I will post it here:

There is an MR-1 for sale in the main forum... Needs an injector, but that is easy.... Great price!! Also needs a pump... I am selling my GenX PCX-40 if interested....

I keep cleaning out that darn thing, and I haven't been using it much lately...I'll check it out.

I am wondering where you got your ATi from (I saw on another post that you had a special place to purchase one with excellent customer service)...did it come with a pump or without? If it did not come with one, what are you using on yours? I have read nothing but good things about them, so am seriously considering going that route.

As far as the Gen-x...I think that I am going to try to find a sequence(?) You said they were way quieter, and this new set up is going to be in the middle of my house in the living room so I want it as quiet as possible.

Anyone have an opinion on pumps? electrical needs, gph, etc...

I'll PM you a link to the skimmer source... I can explain the secrecy later. The source has THE BEST customer service I have seen in a while. When I have questions, I shoot him an e-mail and he responds immdiately. He responded to a normal question of mine, WHILE HE WAS ON VACATION!!! Tell me that's not the best!! When you talk to him, you'll see what I mean.

As far as the Sequnce pumps, yes, they are more quiet, but they are also 3X more powerful. Look at Marine Depots website, they are a sponsor here. have you seen the sposor page yet Val??

Sponsor Page

My skimmer came with the pump. The pump, like I said earlier, is the heartbeat of the skimmer.

LIGHTS.

okay, I'm setting up my 35 hex for dart frogs (yup, they aren't poisonous in captivity)

Now, I don't know what I'll be doing. Sound familliar? well, the thing is, I don't know if I want it to be on the floor and make a REALLY AWESOME corner table, or if I want it to be on a stand (that I'll have to make my fiancee build)

Either way, I'm looking into the lighting for it. What I'm getting around to is-I need something that doesn't take up ANY space, slim, bright, but if its coffee-table, I'd have to beable to mount it to the side of the tank vs the top. And I'd have to have more than one-something like 3-instead. (one for every 2 corners)

now, I don't know what to get! t5 maybe? how expensive do they run? I mean, a MH pendant would look cool, but theres the problem with overlighting. Any other inexpensive, small lights out there?

When I started this thread, I was thinking it would be used for reef tank questions.

Dart Frogs?? I can't help you with their lighting requirements. If you need a really bright light 70w MH light, I've seen this one first hand over a nano tank and it was nice!! Click Me
