Post your tank

Thanks guys.:)

tom, I really do love the BK. It is an amazing piece of equipment. I see you are running a nice skimmer also. I'm guessing I would have been happy regardless of whether I went with a BK, Deltec, or H&S. All great skimmers, IMO.

Tom and others with in wall tanks. Do you ever wonder what you would do if you sell your house with regards to your tank. My tank is posted towards the top of the thread (65 with the mural) and we probably won't live in this house for ever and I have two thoughs. The first is whether the tank will help or hurt the resale of our house and the second thought is do I add a 180 in wall in the new house with dedicated plumbing, etc. or would that cause big problems if I ever wanted to sell. A 65 isn't a huge tank and someone could probably fill it with fresh water fish and have a tank that wouldn't require a lot of work but I'm thinking a 180 is a coomitment regardless of what type of fish you add.

Mike...well I actually have had this issue happen. My old 180 was located in a basement wall. The thought of maybe someone would find it appealing is really not true. Alot of people don't want to hassle with it. If you do sell, I would remove the tank and finish the space. Just another aspect to think about in this hobby.

Thanks Tom. That's kind of what I thought. So what about your new house? I have never seen it in person but have enjoyed looking at the pictures. It appears that you have some serious plumbing and that sump looks like it is sturdy piece. Is it designed so that it can all come out, possibly leaving some pipes in the wall that can be left and then finish the walls so no one knows?

Mike

If it happens that it needs to be removed it can come out fairly easily with little work to repair holes ect. Main work would be to not only get the tank out of the house (very heavy) but to redo that part of the kitchen/living room where the tank sat.

My tank is in our first house and we will probably not live here any longer than another 5 years or so. I have thought about the in-wall issue and also spent some time thinking about it before setting the tank up. Ideally, I would like to sell the tank with the house and then just have a new tank setup at the new house to transfer the livestock over to. But since we don't live in an ideal world, the most likely thing that will happen is I will have to take the tank down and store the livestock in holding bins while I redo the wall to sell the house. In the end, I decided the benefits of having the tank in-wall with a dedicated fish room outweigh the hassle of having to tear it down and redo the wall when it comes time to sell the house. But maybe I will think differently when the time comes to sell our house and I have to actually do it.
