Post "Zoanthid ID" questions HERE

radioactive dragon eyes are represented by the pics on zoaid

that is how we define what a radioactive dragon eye is; mine are radioactive dragon eyes because they are pictured on zoaid.

here is the pic from zoaid

maybe what you two think are radioactive dragon eyes aren't?

maybe what you two think are radioactive dragon eyes aren't?

I think you are right - looks like the Radioactive Dragons eyes are being confused with the Radioactive Alien eyes!!!

All Green = Radioactive Alien eyes

Orange = Radioactive Dragons eyes.

My Bad! I stand corrected, looks like I'm the one that has things confused. Been calling mine Radioactive Alien eyes!! (no offense to the person who named them - just never seen a dragon with green eyes),

Last dragon I saw in these parts had green eyes, I could make them out clearly as he was flying low over the landscape setting fire to all manner of straw huts and barns. Perhaps the variety of dragon they have around Michigan are of a different strain?

:D

how convenient that one of the pics on zoaid was uploaded by you, huh? lol......"I think, therefore I am"........so, in your opinion, whatever is found on Zoaid is *guaranteed 100%* to be correct, no matter what others might say? ....might i ask, why do you think Zoaid has a Council?

like i said right from the start, some of those entries under 'radoactive dragon eye' need to be reviewed.....this is just my humble opinion.

Pic #1 in Zoaid is the real RDE, b/c it is the very first entry/pic....end of story.

Pic #2 should be review b/c the shot is not great (it's blurry and the lighting is awful)

Pics #3 and #4 also need to be looked at.....they're similar, but not the same

that being said, my picture of my RDE more closely matches pic #1 on Zoaid than yours does.....maybe we need the original namer/photographer to chime in on this ....otherwise, this issue ain't ever gonna be solved! ;)

actually whodah contacted me asking to use that pic, i did not upload it; and yes, what is on zoaid has to be correct, as it is the basis of all the naming {kind of like the OED was formed to have a written definition for the meaning of words} Im not saying it can't be changed, but it can't be wrong right now as it is what determines names

I believe there will actually be a consolidation of a lot of the entries on zoaid, not a seperation as you are advocating.

Mayhap it was the fire he was breathin that was reflecting in his eyes!!

Well, this thread went downhill in a hurry. I think we were all hoping for an extensive debate on what true radioactive dragon eyes are...

Sorry to derail the thread.

Naming just never sat right with me and my original comment was simply to point out the faults in the current naming 'system'. No offense to Whodah or anyone else affiliated with ZoaID. I''ll probably just jump on board and make a few submissions myself.

So, let the pic posting commence, pardon the intrusion.

Hi,

Nice zoas everyone.
FYI, there can be many variations of a similarly colored zoa.

Due to enviromental variants, some zoas can change colors, but they're still the same zoa.;) Only a trained eye and a crisp 20 dollar bill can get you a solid answer, wink wink.;)

so those RDA's that i supposivly have, but dont have. when i got them, the whole center part was pretty bright green, ,and over the past two weeks they lose more and more of the color and now their almost down to brown w/ a green mouth, and a little green aroudn that. but when i first got them it was a pretty intense green. whats the reasoning for them losing their color. i also have two more zoo's that need IDing, maybe we wont get into an argument this time haha

I never thought I'd care about the named zoas...alas, I'm a sellout :) Coincidentally I got both of these 1 day apart. The 2 polyp frag is from a local reefer and are supposedly "armors of god." A day later a picked up the larger colony from the LFS. I've dipped it so it's not happy, but wasn't looking too happy before. It's probably been on quite the trek recently. I'm trying to figure out of I coincidentally ended up with an armor or god colony or if it's something slightly different...I know there are some junkies here that will have opinions...thanks a lot...grey
