Potential Buyer Questions.

Hello,
I currently have a 240gal (96 x 24 x 24) aquarium. I am getting tiered of buying cheap power heads and having to replace them after 6 months or so. There are some local people that run Tunze power heads and love them. The questions that i have, is i am not sure what to buy or look for?

I am currently a College Student living on a Cheap budget. I will not be able to get a complete set of pumps, but i would like information on what would be good for my tank, and what pieces to buy first and what could come later. (does that make sense?)

My build thread is here, with pictures of the small corals that i have if it helps.

my return pump is a Reeflo Dart (3600gal) going to various loc-lines in the tank. i also have a few power heads (less and less every day due to failure......) 3-k3's, 2- MJ1200's, and 1-MJ 1200 with the sure-flow mod

any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time

Hi David,

I would suggest 2 6105 and the 7096 controller. You could start with just the 6105's and add the controller later. Eventually it would be nice to add a wavebox extension, you won't need the full wavebox because the 7096 has the control option for the extension so you can save some money there.

what is the difference between the
6105
and the
TS12 kit?
they are similar in price, but as i said, i am new to the Tunze world.

i found the TS12 and 6105 from salty critter. (they are just what was pulled up from GOOGLE)

(thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my potentially obvious questions....)

The TS12 kit includes a 7091 single controller. If you are going to have more than two pumps at some point the 7096 or 7095(7095 cannot do wavebox control) is a much better choice. The 7096 is a cheaper controller than the 7095(7095 is included with the TS24 and TS48 kits) due to production costs and it being programmed by a computer than the 7095 which is listed with the TS24 kits but it can do more.

thanks, but i think i was asking do i need a controller for the 6105 if i purchase it? (right away i mean)

(im going to have to buy these one at a time so if i need to buy a 7096 when i buy the 6105 the thats what i need to know.) if thats the case, then i would just buy the TS12 and upgrade the controller down the line when i get more pumps.

Sorry about that.... You do not need a controller to run the pump. There is a potentiometer that you can set the pump speed with at the desired flow rate. It will just pump at this speed. Once you get a controller you would then set the potentiometer to 100% flow and then set the program and speeds desired on the controller
